ACTUATORS |
L.C. Smith Company manufactures Probe Actuators
and controls for use in remote pressure, temperature, and flow
direction measurement in research prototype jet engines, turbines,
and compressors. These Actuators have also been used to position
instrumentation for measurement of noise, or measurement of similar
gas or fluid flow handling devices such as cryogenic pumps, turbochargers,
and noise reduction studies in turbine engines.
The Probe Actuators are supplied with either D.C.
motors or stepping motors for drive and with either precision
potentiometers or encoders for position feedback. Remote operation
and control is provided by electrical extension cables for remote
operation up to several hundreds of feet.
Controls to drive the Probe Actuators and read
out angular, linear position, and circumferential position are
available with computer port communications to interface the L.C.
